Dont be distracted. By equipment or her eyes

Sometimes equipment is a distraction. Lenses, cameras, lighting stands, strobes, cables, gels – and she is standing and waiting. Sometimes, you can lose it, even before you will start.

On this shoot on Edinburgh’s Arthur’s Seat I’ve taken just my camera, one lens [24-70] and a reflector. Natural poses, smiles, interactions – what I wanted to show. Think about Stefan Soell’s pictures. They are so light, fragile- almost poetic.
Maria was, as always, amazing model.

All pictures were made with beautiful setting sun as main light and reflector [silver or white] for fill. Not too much PS, except some bleach bypass.

Portrait of Comfort A, lovely Nigerian girl. Pictures are strong, full of power, and that was her firs time on a photo shoot. More is coming.

Light: strip softboxes either side. No fill or backlight[maybe next time]. As I see now, maybe a little spotlight on a background would be nice.

College assignment: Lifestyle magazine cover shoot. I’ve tried to do Men’s Health.
They are doing mainly black and white covers. Quite sure they are using only one light on the subject with some reflection and pure white background.
Dennis was standing in front of black tunnel, and had one big beauty dish camera high right. Background was two bare bulbs 1.5 stop over him.
Blue cast to make it a little fashionable. Cast is cleared from the skin.

One of my Graded Unit assigments at college. It was a very small room with courtains behind in about 1 meter. Shoot with two flashes on either side covered with kitchen foil grids for control of light spill.

First. HD quality.

No flash. Just as it is.cross flashedblue on heart

First post. Does it have to be about something? Yeah, maybe.

This is a Beauty I’ve shoot for Edinburgh Harley-Davidson. It’s showing how a little of camera flash can change the image.

Just a normal room light by big windows in celling and some small point lamps.
Second image is a little bit of a change – two flashes either side on low angles are giving dramatic look. Right light has CTO gel on it, to give a setting sun look.
3rd picture – you know it. Bare flash behind and blue geled with small snoot and grid from straws front right on the engine.
